We love San Francisco

Well, just got back. The Mrs. and I spent the weekend in San Francisco. It's my favorite city and quickly becoming Mrs. Zombieslayer's as well.

Things to avoid - traffic. You need to learn the public transportation system, which is really good once you learn how to use it.

I didn't like the 4D rides on Pier 39. They're $12.50 a person for ten minutes and they're simply a waste of money. They're basically a chair that moves around and you stare at a big screen with 3D glasses. Wow. Considering you have cruises to Alcatraz, redwood groves in Marin County, and both Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Great America not too far away, you might as well ride some real rides or enjoy the sites for that kind of money. You can even camp overnight on Angel Island, an island in the middle of the Bay. I've yet to do that though.

The Mrs. loved The Musee Mechanique and the liberty ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien the best. I'll do a write-up on each of them later. For now, it's time to visit your blogs and see what I've been missing while on the road.

I was in SF on Saturday - first time in many years. Will be planning a trip to Alcatraz, but I really want to go to Santa Cruz - I hear it's very nice. Now that I live here, I should start learning the places to take my soon-to-be visitors. Glad you guys had a good time! Did you happen to see "bush man"? He is the guy who sits close to Fisherman's Wharf and hides behind bushes and yells "boo!" at people to scare them. I am easily amused and watching the reactions of people was a hoot. :-P

We just went to SF, too. Public trans. is the only way to go there. It's fun to not stress, because the driving is so crazy there. We went to that museum on the wharf, too. It was cool, but I think the wharf is pretty unimpressive. We like to walk through the mansion neighborhoods (Pacific Heights, the Richmond, the Peidmont; they're free and amazing, and you always leave saying "oh well, they have so much money, they're probably miserable."

ZS, your back! Proabably another part to avoid is the gay district (is there a district or is the city overrun with them?) Not that I have anything against gays its just them expressing it in public is the problem I have. Keep it in the bedroom guys!

Welcome Back!
My sister lives in SF. She lives in the Castro district somewhere around Market St. and 2nd. I never visit her because I can't drive there. My husband I both really love it though and try to go whenever we can. We went for our 8th anniversary last year. We went to that Imaginarium place and almost spent the whole day there.
We have also seen the Phantom of the Opera at the Crest Theater.

Jen - Santa Cruz is really nice. As for "bush man," I've heard about him from so many sources but have yet to see him. Maybe he doesn't like Zombieslayers.

Slade - Coming up...

Michele - I couldn't tell you whether or not they're miserable. I've met many a millionaire in Santa Barbara, but never in S.F.

Ben - they're actually quite fun people. Not like the annoying ones in Seattle.

Sadie - nobody in their right mind drives there. I just take BART and go on foot when I have to go in that area. What's the Imaginarium? Is that different from the Exploratorium? If so, I've never been there.

Ben, you seem to be pretty ignorant.

No offense. Not that I have anything against ignorant people, its just them expressing their opinions in public.

I meant the Exploratorium. *blushing* the Imaginarium is the little wanna be exploratorium we have in Nevada City.
Silly me. Did you go there?

If you and the Mrs. and Jr. stay unemployed travelers for awhile, you ought to come up to the Bloglings country, Nevada County. If you love open spaces, (as you say you do) this land is a dream. You could meet Sadie, Bo, Levi, and all of us commenters. We would make you a nice dinner. We're all great cooks, especially Mrs. Bo.

Sadie - went there last year. It's really cool.

Michele - We might take you all up on that offer. Would love to meet you all in person. And of course, both Mrs. Zombieslayer and I love food. :)
