Until next week...

Folks, once again moving. We just got here too, and since being here, I've only really been here half the time. I got a job in Santa Barbara, which is about an hour and a half north of Los Angeles.

That said, I'll be on the road this weekend visiting friends on the way down. I start Monday and should be able to blog again early next week.

So...you all have wonderful weekends. As for now, I need to pack.

Congrats on the new job ZS, just out of curiosity's sake what field is it in? I hope you have a pleasant move and I can't wait for you to start posting again.

OOh have fun. I was in SB once - I liked the area a lot. If I were to move to CA (which is doubtful) that's around where I'd want to be. I have to win the lotto first. ;-)

I went on dive trip from Santa Barbara once. Very nice. And I subsequently discoverd the town has what is probably the only Little Black Sambos resturant left in the US. I was amazed to find it in Cali.

I enjoyed living in SB -- Goleta, to be technical, although it wasn't an actual town then. I used to work on lower State St. maybe a five-minute walk to the beach. I have to say I miss it a lot, although I don't miss the high cost of living. Have you found a place to stay? Congrats and good luck!

Ben - it's a software engineering job. For you young people who are thinking of what to major in, don't do computer science.

Laura - I might be buying a house here. The way to do it is buy with at least one other person, and rent out the remaining room(s). I'm not rich yet, so that's how I'm going to have to do it.

Exmi - How long ago was that? I don't know if that restaurant's still there.

Sadie - Thanks.

Dave - I guess tomorrow.

Jason - it's technically Goleta, but since nobody's ever heard of Goleta, I said Santa Barbara.

Cultureshocked - me too. Thanks.

Bridget - thanks. Love this beach too. I'll be playing lots of volleyball. Can't wait.

Heather - yeah, moving sucks. thanks.

Michele - there's actually plenty behind those mountains, so much in fact that some environmentalists want to put some grizzlies behind those mountains. If I'm not mistaken, there are over 130k acres of roadless area out there.

Kris - thanks.

Thanks Savage. As you know, we always enjoy having people over for dinner. Mrs. Zombieslayer doesn't talk much, and Junior rushes through dinner to get back to what he was doing, so I never get much for dinner conversation.

You need to watch Army of Darkness. You'd love it. Then just give it back to Mrs. Zombieslayer when you're done.

Oh, I know how much you like 80s cheese. Just saw Better Off Dead at my friend's house in the SF Bay Area. Funny movie.

You've NEVER seen Better Off Dead? That's one of our family's all-time favs!

Tshsmom - well, I've finally seen it. I don't know how I went through the 80s without seeing that. I somehow managed to do it though. Ferris Beuller's Day Off is still my fav distinctly 80s comedy though, but Better Off Dead's definitely a goodie.

I always referenced Goleta lemons, which one or two people in the world have heard of -- kind of like Gilroy, the garlic capitol of the world. I live in condos that were right behind the Raytheon building on Hollister, very near what is now the Bacara resort. Maybe if I hit it big I'll move back. ;-)

Jason - I'm not too far from where you used to live. Remember those streets that are all named after CA counties? That's where I'm staying currently.

So you're just off the Camino Real, near "old town" Goleta, right? It's been a couple of years since I was last up there, so I'm a little foggy. I liked living there with room to stretch out but still being near the city. Not that SB is exactly a rough-and-tumble metropolis. Aw man, I'm really starting to miss it now...

Jason - yes, that's it. Right off Camino Real. Nothing like driving to work at 8:30, getting on the freeway, and driving 70 miles an hour instead of 17. I'm about 10 minutes from work. Love this area.

On the other hand, when I was in Ventura and working in Santa Barbara, we had traffic. Not much, but I had to change my work hours to get around it.
